Special seminar - Marie-Claude Geoffroy

Marie-Claude Geoffroy is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and an Associate Member of the Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupational Health at McGill University. She is also a researcher at the Douglas Research Centre, a child and adolescent psychologist, and holder of the Canada Research Chair in Youth Suicide Prevention.

This presentation draws on 15 years of longitudinal research conducted in Quebec, together with systematic reviews, to better understand the developmental pathways leading to suicide in young people. It will highlight the main risk and protective factors identified across development. It will also discuss avenues for moving prevention further upstream, before a suicidal crisis emerges.
