Christophe Gauld is Associate Professor in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (UMR 5229 – University of Lyon & Hospices Civils de Lyon), holds a PhD in the philosophy of psychiatry, and has a Master’s degree in computational sciences. He is the author of several books: *Classer la folie*; *Promesses et limites de la psychiatrie de précision*; and *Les Réseaux de Symptômes en Psychopathologie*. This last topic will be the focus of this exceptional seminar, “Symptom Networks for Clinical Psychiatry”.
Symptom network theory considers psychiatric disorders as sets of elements in dynamic interaction, which can reinforce, maintain, or modify one another. Drawing on various clinical examples, this talk will explore the potential contributions of these models to the understanding of psychopathological trajectories, case formulation, the identification of central symptoms, and the individualisation of care. Particular attention will be paid to practical issues for healthcare professionals, as well as to the links between subjective experience, symptom temporality, and clinical reasoning.
